About U.S Embassy:
This position is a Locally Employed (LE) Staff Assistant Local Guard Coordinator (LGC) and serves under RSO Embassy Operations in the Facility’ Protection Division. Additionally, the position serves as an advisor to the Regional Security Officer (RSO), Deputy Regional Security Officer (DRSO) and Assistant RSOs (ARSO) in Embassy Operations, and Facilities Protection Division regarding all BSS operations in connection with Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) including the Ministry of Interior (MOI) personnel supporting Chief of Mission (COM) facilities protection operations. The incumbent conducts all manner of simple, complex, and sensitive planning, coordination and operations for BSS within the context of Embassy Operations.
Incumbent is able to independently review and assess threats, risk management procedures, ANSF capabilities and complex operational planning and produce concise written and oral briefings to senior officials, including the RSO and CoM, regarding on-compound protection of the facilities and crisis response.
~~Incumbent is required to maintain, operate, and manage U .S. Department of State provided fully armored and non-armored vehicles; special electronic and communications equipment and other resources worth over $250,000.
Incumbent is a member of a nine (9) person team of LE Staff comprised of Local Guard Coordinator personnel. Serves with the BSS contract personnel who work in the KESF SOC and the International Zone Command Center, who also conduct regular checks for the Tall Building Initiative. Also assists RSO in managing the BSS contract personnel who operate the off-compound itemizer program. Incumbent also serves as a secondary liaison with the MOI commander assigned to U .S. Embassy Kabul and other Afghan security partners along the border with the U .S. Embassy due to their interaction with and implications to SSS contract personnel.
Reports directly to the Assistant Regional Security Officer assigned to the Facility Protection Division.
Education: Completion of High School Education is required.
Prior Work Experience: Three (3) years of experience in any combination of the following: security, law enforcement, military or similar field with progressively more responsible experience is required.
Language Proficiency: Dari level 4 (Fluent) or Pashto level 4 (Fluent), English level 3 (Working Knowledge) are required
Job Knowledge: Knowledge and experience in the conduct of security and military operations to include threat assessment, risk assessment and operational planning. Knowledge of Afghan Law Enforcement Organization and Afghan geography and current events. Driving License is required.
Skills and Abilities: Strong interpersonal skills are mandatory. Ability to qualify with and use firearms is required. Good computer skills in the following programs: Microsoft Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint. Sound judgment to analyze and interpret the significance of information and events. Required driver’s license class C.
