- The U.S. Mission in Kabul is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for position the position of TCN Procurement Agent.
The work schedule for this position is:
- Full Time (40 hours per week)
- Salary and Benefits: $25,171 per annum (Plus 35% of basic salary for Afghanistan Service Differential and 25% of basic salary for Unique Conditions of Work Allowance) Paid in US Dollars.

Basic Function of Position
The incumbent is responsible for handling procurement requests submitted by Subscribed ICASS customers; reviews requests, solicits quotations from either local or offshore vendors depending on the urgency and specific items being requested. Reviews quotes received; evaluates the quotations, prepares the price analysis sheet and submits to supervisor for review and approval. Procures goods and services from the local market or offshore under the simplified acquisition method (SAP) procedures. Determines the type of procurement method to be used (BPA, Purchase Order or Purchase Card). Employee must be familiar with the standards set forth in Mission vetting guidelines, DOSAR, FAR, and A/OPE instructions under the immedidate supervision of the Procurement Supervisor. Performs research of the local market for the best value to the U.S. Government.
Qualifications and Evaluations
- EXPERIENCE: Three years of progressively responsible experience in procurement and related fields is required, at least two of which must have been at the UN, an NGO or Western Embassy.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Familiarity and knowledge of local sources of supply. Knowledge of DOS procurement regulations and procedures is required. Must become familiar with and understand local pricing practices, how credit cards work and have good working knowledge of internet search engines.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Employee must be able to use Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, the internet, Google, etc. The employee must be able to type 20-30 wpm on a computer and be able to read and understand cataloguing and on-line ordering instructions. The ability to read, understand and follow complicated DOS and Federal procurement regulations, instructions and procedures is required.
