The IRC opened the country program in Afghanistan in 1988. Our programs span the range from humanitarian relief to early recovery and development activities, focusing on child protection, education, economic well being, health, and power. The IRC works in 9 provinces throughout Afghanistan, among which some of the most security volatile, and employs over 500 staff.
Work as Nutrition Technician under the supervision of Nutrition Supervisor at health facility and community levels.
Take active part in screening and growth monitoring of malnourished children at community level.
Assist Nutrition Team in the development, coordination and production of teaching materials.
Ensure the utilization & visibility of IEC materials at health facilities (HFs) and health posts (HPs) level by CHWs, Healthcare Facility Personnel, or FHAG groups.
Assist and facilitate Community Mobilization Teams (CMTs) at health post in conducting CBNP activity at community level.
Motivate CMTs in promoting nutrition activities at their respective villages.
Follow up of CBNP and IYCF4in One programs with CMTs and Nutrition Counsellors in Growth monitoring and Screening of children at community and Health facility levels.
Develop positive relations with community through regular meetings with elders, Mullahs, local Shura and CDC to promote IRC acceptance in the target areas.
Work with community elders, Shura during project implementation, explaining IRC project activities and explain that IRC projects are in line with Islamic values.
Working with HPs and HFs staff to fill the gaps identified during monitoring and supervision visits of different monitors of IRC and SRTRO.
Coordination with different governmental department for organizing the events like CBNP and IYCF4 in One sessions at community and health facility levels.
Collection of data from HPs and HFs regarding nutrition program at both levels.
- 12th grade or Qualified Nurse or Midwife with experience in Nutrition and trainings activities.
- Experienced in health and nutrition projects implementation and design.
- Expert in community mobilization and coordination to increase community participation.
- Experienced in designing behaviour change communication (health) for improving the nutritional status of child and child bearing age women.
- 2-3 years relevant experience
- Enthusiasm to travel to locations within a region – and to other regions for training sessions
- Ability to communicate effectively in local languages both verbally and in writing.
- Self-motivated, possessing persuasion skills, ability to maintain relationship and able to work on own initiative.
