Islamic Relief Worldwide – Afghanistan Country Office (IRW) is an international non profitable Non-governmental humanitarian relief organization with its head quarter in UK-Birmingham. It enjoys consultative status with the Economic and social Council of the United Nations and is a signatory to the Code of Conduct for International Red Cross and red Crescent Moments and NGOs in Disaster Relief. IRA started its humanitarian activities for Afghan Refugees in Pakistan and Afghan people inside since then; IRA continued providing assistances in emergency relief, food security, women empowerment, girl education, orphan sponsorship, health, emergency education, shelter, Ramadan and qurbani programs.

Job Description:

Overall administration and management of the project (planning, field implementation, timely budget utilization, monitoring, backstopping, coordination);
Project information management and reporting to management and donor;
Ensure project targets are met using indicator / activity tracking;
Coordinate in project implementation planning, budget preparation and revision;
Review and monitor the project in a timely manner and provide technical support;
Work closely with the IRW Afghanistan finance department to ensure effective financial and budgetary control of the project according to IRW’s and donor’s policies and procedures;
Provide timely and quality narrative and financial project reports to IRW management and donors;
Maintain collaboration with PBHS and EPHS.
Coordination and networking with key stakeholders (government authorities, clusters members, donors, international and local NGOs, community elders and civil society) and represent IRW in meetings and seminars with stakeholders;
Develop project information data base with regular update;
Staff capacity assessment and development through training, coaching and mentoring;
Develops and conduct health and nutrition related capacity building programs and training workshops;
Develop and utilize best practices in technical interventions in nutrition and health;
Provide technical support and expertise for designing new project concept notes and proposals on health and nutrition;
Plans and conducts surveys and assessments to evaluates the needs of health and nutrition on ground and align program design and implementation with the cluster priorities;
Ensure that the project implementation meets Islamic Relief Quality Standards and donor compliance;
Provide leadership and managerial support to the project team and manage and evaluate their performance and capacity;
Contribute to strategic planning of the organization;
Participate IRW’s humanitarian response activities;

Any other assignment by the line manager;

Job Requirements:

Bachelor in Medicine (MD) or Bachelor in Public Health with strong background in management of health and nutrition projects;
A sound understanding of the sectors including BPHS, Citizen Charter, and other inter organizational initiatives for health and Nutrition in the country;
Experience of securing funds and managing health and Nutrition sectors projects/programs with assistance from diversified donors including in BPHS, WFP, Citizen Charter and other local and international donors;
Experience of managing program of sizable budget and staff;
Minimum of 07 years of progressive working experience with health and nutrition related humanitarian and development projects;
Proven experience of designing and managing health and nutrition programs in the conflict areas;
Ability to represent, liaise and negotiate at different levels (national, provincial and local) with NGOs/ INGOs, donors, government, and other program stakeholders;
Good interpersonal skills including the ability to listen, and respect others’ views and perspectives;
Effective supervision and performance management skills;
An ability to work under pressure with limited support;
Strong project management, planning, and budgeting skills;
Excellent communication and report writing skills (in English);
Excellent computer and data analysis skills;
Proficiency in English and local languages;
