Incumbent serves as fraud investigator attached to the Consular Section’s Fraud Prevention Unit (FPU). He/she works closely with all consular staff, Assistant Regional Security Office-Investigations (ARSO-I) personnel, other Embassy agencies and local law enforcement to identify and deter persons attempting to travel to the United States by fraudulent means. The position’s primary responsibilities include performing all aspects relating to the investigation and tracking of casework, and assisting the Fraud Prevention Manager.
EXPERIENCE: Two years of experience in the fraud prevention, investigative, journalism, government service, law enforcement, or prosecution fields or consular work applying regulations is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Possesses knowledge of Afghan customs, documentary practices and legal systems. Detailed knowledge of U.S. immigration laws. Understands all U.S. visa, passport, and citizenship processing procedures. In-depth knowledge of visa and citizenship fraud trends in Afghanistan and the region.
Education Requirements: Completion of at least two years of College/University studies is required.
LANGUAGE: Level IV (fluent) in Dari and English is required. Level III Pashto proficiency is preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Data entry using consular software, Microsoft office suite. Customer service skills, especially providing detailed information on visa applications procedures and immigration law in person, by phone and over email. Understanding of interview techniques designed to best elicit truthful statements from applicants. Translation services for consular customers.
